        The Phoenix

honoring Mr. John Anthony & Ronan O'Rahilly
                          who made pirate radio work!

About The Phoenix

In early June of 2005, John Anthony of Shrub Oak N.Y. pitched an internet radio station to his
friend {Tony West} in Minneapolis.
The plan was to call the station Sunshine Internet Radio in tribute to legendary Radio Caroline
broadcaster "Admiral" Robbie Dale, an old friend of John's.
Sadly, John passed away
in his sleep in late June 2005 before he could realize his venture.
In honor of John, Tony started Sunshine in October of 2005 after getting the
software for the ability to broadcast worldwide.
Thus, Sunshine Internet Radio was born. Tony operated Sunshine, garnering a
listenership around the world until 2011 when a job assignment rendered Tony unable
to continue due to job hour conflict.
This caused a loss of listenership until Sunshine was no longer viable as a tribute
to John and so Tony closed it down.
However, having a passion for doing radio, Tony soon missed doing it.
So in 2012, Tony returned to the internet along with local airwaves on FM
and a return to "online" as The Phoenix; the call seeming the most appropriate
for sign-on/sign-off functions.
So today The Phoenix still flies 24/7 in John's honor, but brings back the
"Beautiful Music" format missing from commercial radio today.
"The Bird" hopes to continue to bring entertainment listeners will like with a plethora
of genre's from years gone by and no longer heard on any (commercial) radio
stations and surely not in the format we are doing today (mixed genre's).
Here, there's something for everybody, all day, all night, all nice!

So, in Johns' memory, we invite you to relax & have a listen!

In conclusion, we'd like to thank Yola.com and Verizon
5G  for hosting us!

Thank you so much, listeners!
